Brief Bio
Wadii Boulila is an assistant professor of computer science at College of Computer Science and Engineering, Taibah University– Saudi Arabia and an assistant professor of computer science at Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts of Manouba, Manouba University, Manouba – Tunisia. Dr. Boulila received the Eng. degree in computer science from the Aviation School of Borj El Amri in 2005, the M.Sc. degree from the National School of Computer Science (ENSI), University of Manouba, Tunisia in 2007, and the PhD degree conjointly from ENSI and Telecom-Bretagne, University of Rennes 1, France in 2012. He is a permanent researcher with the RIADI laboratory (University of Manouba, Tunisia), an associate researcher with the ITI department (University of Rennes 1, France), a bronze member with KES international (Society of Intelligent Systems) and he was a member of the organizing committee of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS2005) under the direction of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Dr. Boulila is ranked first in the national tests for the grade of assistant professor of higher education (Tunisia, 2012) and received the award of the defense minister (highest 1st Class Honours with distinction 2004-2005, 2003-2004, 2002-2003). Dr. Boulila research interests include big data analytics, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, uncertainty modeling, remote sensing images, deep learning, etc. Dr. Boulila acts as an editorial member and a reviewer for many referred journals and conferences. He obtained many international certifications in web development, database, business intelligence and programing.


Image data is used in many fields such as remote sensing, medical, face recognition, movement detection, etc. 
In all of these fields, several operations and tasks are needed to be able to understand the content of images.  Tasks of analysis, modeling and interpretation of image data become more complex. The manual interpretation becomes a time consuming and expensive task.
Today, an extensive research has devoted to deep learning (DL). The interest in the application of
DL techniques has increased in the last decade and it has become one of the main research fields in computer science. This is due to the better feature representation and the high performance of DL architectures. 
The purpose of this track is to propose DL based approaches for image analysis and interpretation. These approaches will help users make efficient decisions in many fields related to image data.

Topics of Interest
This track encourages submissions to the following topics, but not limited to:
  • DL based approaches for image data to perform:
    • Low-level tasks of processing of image data (i.e., processing, denoising, restoration, recovery, un-mixing, reconstruction, etc.)
    • High-level tasks of processing of image data (i.e., target detection, face recognition, tumor detection, time series, classification, retrieval, understanding, etc.)
  • Uncertainty modeling for DL approaches in image data.
  • Platforms and systems for image big data (scalable computing platforms, high performance computing, etc.).
  • DL based approaches for distribution, sharing, and visualization of image data.
  • Optimization of DL algorithms in image data (decentralized, parallel, multi-objective, evolutionary, streaming, sketching, etc.).
  • Applications can cover several topics such as: semantic segmentation, object dection, prediction, classification, object retrieval, etc.
  • Real world applications for image processing and interpretation using DL approaches.

After thorough reviewing by the special session program committee, all accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book - under an ISBN reference and on digital support - and submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index) and Scopus.
