Vilamoura is located in the Algarve coast, within 25 km of main airport at Faro and 266 km south of Lisbon. It's considered one of the largest beach resorts in Europe, covering around 20 km² of land, with golf courses, a variety of restaurants, the largest marina in the country and a vibrant nightlife, which attracts celebrities from all over the world, mostly in the summer.


At the heart of Vilamoura is the Marina, with capacity for more than 1,000 boats and yachts. It has a huge variety of bars, restaurants and shops to suit all tastes and budgets, surrounded by large hotels and luxury holiday homes.


Vilamoura is also home of a Casino, a vital point of the Algarve's summer nights with regular evening entertainment shows such as cabaret and dance, as well the gambling rooms where is possible to play roulette, black jack and other games.


Other big attraction in the region is Golf. Vilamoura alone has six fabulous golf courses, making it one of Europe's major Golf destinations.


The Vilamoura resort is also known for its beaches, Praia da Marina" (in English "Marina Beach") and "Praia da Falésia" (in English "Cliff Beach") with golden sand and transparent water. For those who do not appreciate a day at the beach it is also possible charter a boat for a large variety of activities, including dolphin watching trips,  fishing and watersports.


Finally, for those who like history is possible to visit the ruins of a roman fishing village in the museum "Cerro da Vila", located just a few steps away from the marina.


For those staying longer in the Algarve, the surrounding areas of Loulé, Lagos and Faro also boast quaint historical villages and cities, a large natural park, beautiful beaches, castles and historical sites well worth a visit.
